Giving MSN the boot…
It’s soon about that time. MSN has more than served it’s purpose here, and the number of contacts that I have on MSN but not Jabber is minimal. So, it’s almost time to disable the MSN accounts in Pidgin and go all Jabber.
It’s going to be nice to get away from all that spam, all those annoying viruses, and all that extra crap you get with MSN (such as proxied super slow file transfers, random errors, message delivery failures, disconnects, etc). MSN is just way too primitive, and all the good features it has has been stolen from somewhere else and just been added to the mix without any thoughts being put into it. Kind of like you replacing the ingredients in your grandmothers cake recipe with stuff that looks similar.
So, for the few of you out there who still only has me on MSN, go ahead and get yourself a Jabber account. You can pick and chose freely between a large number of providers (such as jabber.org, jabber.se, neko.im, etc.) and a number of clients (such as Pidgin, Psi, Miranda, etc:).
